Viagra – Cialis Side Effects

According to Pfizer, the manufacturer of Viagra, the little blue pill has been prescribed to over 35 million men worldwide. For many, it is considered a wonder drug, promising an effective solution to erectile dysfunction (ED), increased virility, and improved sexual prowess. But while Viagra holds about a 50% share of the ED market, the current second, Cialis, is catching up quite quickly.

Unfortunately for both pills, a study conducted by researchers from Harvard Medical School was published on the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Internal Medicine in 2014. It concluded that men who took Viagra or Cialis were over 80% more likely to develop melanoma than those who did not use the said drugs. Following the said publication, a growing number of men have filed lawsuits against Pfizer, relying on the allegation that the company knew or should have known about this serious side effect, but failed to provide adequate warning to users.

Viagra and Cialis are both classified as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Since PDE5A is considered a cancer-fighting protein and PDE5 inhibitors are specially formulated to lower the amount of PDE5 and PDE5A in the body, it’s highly likely that Viagra and Cialis significantly weak the body’s ability to fight cancers like melanoma.

To better appreciate the importance and reliability of the JAMA study, it’s important to note that there have also been several similar studies over the years. In 2011, Cancer Cell published a study conducted by UK researchers, which warned that PDE5A medication increases melanoma cell invasion. In 2012, yet another study conducted by Chinese researchers was published on the Journal of Cell Biochemistry, linking the use of PDE5A inhibitors to an increased risk of melanoma. Lastly, in 2015, the Journal of

Urology also published a study, which claims that PDE5A inhibitors increase the risk of recurrence of prostate cancer by 38%.Moreover, as if the increased risk of cancer wasn’t enough, there are a number of common side effects that are associated with Viagra and Cialis. These side effects include headaches, stuffy nose, body pain, gastrointestinal issues, dizziness, vision change, and flushing.

If you’re suffering or have suffered from any of the side effects associated with your use of Viagra or Cialis, it’s important to contact a medical professional right away. But if your symptoms suggest the existence of melanoma, make sure to visit a dermatologist, oncologist or other specialist. After getting your medical concerns out of the way, it’s only then that you should start to consider the possibility of filing a lawsuit and getting the appropriate legal assistance.
